When working on a jobsite, your tools become one of your most important assets. Having broken or lost tools can cost a company not only time and money, but could also jeopardize their ability to work for the same company again. We have compiled a list of 5 tips to help you keep your tools, both big and small, safe so you can continue to work without unwanted interruptions.
1.) Get a Lockbox
For smaller tools, keeping them inside of a lockbox will help ensure that your valuable tools do not get stolen
2.)Limit Access to the Jobsite
Having just one entry point on the jobsite will help to cut down on the amount of unwanted people coming onto your jobsite. You can accomplish this by building a fence around the perimeter and having one gate that locks to keep people out when no one is there.
3.)Keep Tools and Equipment in a Separate Location When Not In Use
If possible, when you have finished using a tool or a piece of equipment, try to put it somewhere out of the way where other people are not working. This way, your tools will be less likely to get accidentally kicked or having it ran over by another piece of equipment such as a forklift.
4.) Understand How to Use the Tool
This one probably goes without saying, but having someone operating a tool that doesn't fully understand the operating guidelines can cause extreme damage to your tool. By making sure that everyone on your jobsites knows how to properly handle the tools they are using can not only keep your tools safe, but it can keep your co-workers safe as well.
5.)Security Lighting
Another way to deter thieves from coming onto your jobsite is by setting up motion-activated lighting. By having these types of lights set up, you are more likely to scare away would-be thieves that try to sneak onto your jobsite at night.
Using these five tips while working on a jobsite can help ensure that your tools and equipment stay safe. If you have any questions, or need more information on how to keep your tools safe, please contact us today.
